Recipe 2. Grilled Salmon
Grilled Salmon
Today, I’m going to show you how to make a delicious, perfectly grilled salmon with a unique twist. Grilled salmon is such a versatile dish, and I’m going to add something special to elevate the flavor and give it that extra touch.
Ingredients for Grilled Salmon with Citrus-Miso Glaze (Serves 4)
4 fresh salmon fillets (around 150g each)
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper (to taste)
Lemon (1, zest and juice)
Orange (1, zest and juice)
2 tbsp white miso paste
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
Fresh parsley (for garnish)
1 garlic clove (minced)
1 tsp ginger (grated)
Step-by-Step Directions
Prepare the Miso-Citrus Glaze:
In a small bowl, combine the zest and juice of both the lemon and orange. This will give us that vibrant citrus kick.
Add in the white miso paste, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Whisk it all together until smooth. This glaze is going to be the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and tangy, with a subtle umami depth from the miso.
Preheat Your Grill:
Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. If you’re using an outdoor grill, make sure to oil the grates to prevent sticking. If you're using a grill pan, a quick brush with olive oil works well.
Season the Salmon:
Brush the salmon fillets with olive oil, then season them with salt and pepper on both sides. This helps to get that beautiful crispy skin while the flesh remains tender.
Grill the Salmon:
Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, depending on thickness. You want the fish to be cooked through, but still juicy and tender.
Glaze the Salmon:
While the salmon is grilling, use a spoon to baste the fillets with the citrus-miso glaze about 2 minutes before they’re done. This will allow the glaze to caramelize slightly on the surface, giving the salmon a beautiful, glossy finish.
Serve and Garnish:
Once your salmon is done, remove it from the grill and plate it. Drizzle a little more of the citrus-miso glaze over the top and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
Serving Suggestions:
Side Options: Serve with roasted vegetables like asparagus, broccoli, or a fresh garden salad for a light meal. A side of steamed rice also works great to soak up the delicious glaze.
Serving Quantity: This recipe serves 4 people with generous portions of salmon.
Countries That Harvest the Ingredients:

Miso Paste –Japan

Soy Sauce – Japan
Citrus (Lemon & Orange) – Japan
Materials Needed:

I wonder if, when you purchase the salmon, you can know whether it's been farmed or wild caught. In doing a little research, I can see that Norwegian salmon can be either wild caught or farmed, depending on the source. Can you distinguish differences in taste or other qualities between the two types?
ReplyDeleteWhen serving something that has fine quality, and well chosen, central ingredients I think it's best to avoid too many ancillary ingredients. You followed that rule in your recipe, keeping it simple, while suggesting a process that would add subtlety of flavor and prevent the propensity for grilled salmon to become overly dry and flaky. Your side options would be something that I would be able to eat.
This grilled salmon recipe with a citrus-miso glaze sounds absolutely delicious! The combination of fresh salmon with the vibrant flavors of citrus, miso, and honey creates a beautifully balanced dish that is both sweet and savory with a subtle umami depth.
